Morrowfield Watches

A one-page website for one mechanical watch. The story is a way into the watch and out again: through the crystal to the wheels and the balance, round to the rotor — and into the dark, where the hands glow. Every view is a frame or a clip made for the page; the scroll leafs through them.

Into the watch and out again

Four acts: the dial, the movement, the rotor and the dark. Between them — a running line, six parts of the watch and pages of gold and ruby.

Open the 3D site

ProjectThe site scrolls: the scene moves with the scroll.

  1. The page opens: the watch on slate, in a beam of light
  2. A page of gold: the word of the act and a round window
  3. The phrase on a page of ruby: “A second at a time.”
  4. The finale: the watch in its box and one button

What we made

  • A story in four acts, with no people: through the crystal, between the wheels, to the back and into the dark
  • Every view is a frame or a clip made for the page; the scroll leafs through them both ways, on a phone too
  • Two floods taken from the watch itself: the gold of its hands and the ruby of its jewel
  • Windows in the page: a round one that opens into the movement, and one in its margins for the rotor
  • Six parts named where they are, each label tied to its part by a thin line, then gathered as a grid of six pictures
  • A serif and a monospaced face; a footer made as the back of the watch, its engraving set in type along the ring
