Ovenholt Pizzeria

A one-page website for a wood-fired pizzeria, told through one Margherita: the dough is stretched and dressed from straight above, the peel goes into the fire — and a slice is lifted. The frames and clips were made for this page; the scroll turns them one frame at a time.

One Margherita and a fire

Four acts: the fire, the Margherita, the oven and the table. Between them: the name of the pizza on the orange of the fire, its four words on the yellow.

Open the 3D site

ProjectThe site scrolls: the scene moves with the scroll.

  1. The page opens: the dark room and the fire at its far end
  2. The dough on the marble, its word tied to it by a line
  3. The pizza from straight above: tomato, mozzarella, basil
  4. The finale: a slice is lifted, the last line and one button

What we made

  • A story in four acts, in one direction: one Margherita from the dough to the slice
  • Clips made for the page, cut into whole frames: scrolling down runs them forwards, scrolling up — back
  • The pizza is built from straight above: each ingredient is named as it lands, the word tied to it by a line
  • Floods that become the page: the orange of the fire, then the yellow of the oil with the pizza in four rounds
  • The mouth of the oven as an arch that stands on the foot of the page and opens to the whole screen
  • A fat display serif, a footer printed on the lid of a pizza box, a phone version
